Tax Manager: Requirements

  • Active CPA license
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting or Tax
  • 10+ years of accounting and tax experience
  • Proficiency with UltraTax and QuickBooks Online
  • Strong understanding of GAAP
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and formulas
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

    Who You Are

    Our Tax Manager works closely with firm leadership, staff, and clients, and is responsible for planning, supervising, reviewing, and completing complex tax engagements.

  • An experienced CPA with 10+ years of U.S. tax compliance and planning experience
  • Strong background with high-net-worth individuals and closely held businesses
  • Comfortable reviewing and diagnosing QuickBooks Online files for accuracy before finalizing returns
  • Experienced in multi-state filings
  • Technologically confident and process-oriented
  • Able to manage multiple client engagements at once
  • A proactive communicator who can explain complex tax matters clearly

    What the role entails

  • Prepare and review complex federal and state returns for individuals and business entities
  • Lead tax planning initiatives for entrepreneurial clients
  • File returns, extensions, and quarterly estimates
  • Research federal, state, and local tax issues and recommend planning strategies
  • Review and diagnose QuickBooks Online files to catch classification issues and inconsistencies
  • Serve as a technical resource and escalation point for complex tax matters
  • Coach and develop staff through clear review feedback
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and system efficiencies
