NetSuite Controller: Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Active CPA license, non-negotiable
  • 3+ years of hands-on NetSuite ERP experience
  • Experience with QuickBooks Online and/or Desktop
  • Strong understanding of GAAP
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, formulas, and data analysis functions
  • Experience working across multiple accounting platforms (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, Xero, Bill.com)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

    Who You Are

    Our NetSuite Controller works closely with firm leadership, staff, and clients, and is responsible for owning the accuracy, structure, and scalability of client accounting environments.

  • An experienced accounting leader with strong controllership and client-facing experience
  • Highly proficient in NetSuite ERP, with a clear understanding of what the system can and can’t do
  • Experience integrating systems and managing data flows across platforms
  • Comfortable working directly with CEOs and business owners, including in high-stakes conversations
  • Technologically confident, and genuinely enjoys automating manual work and improving processes
  • Exceptionally organized, with strong time management across multiple client engagements
  • A proactive communicator who translates financial data into clear, actionable insight
  • A self-starter who takes ownership and thrives in a fast-paced, remote environment

    What the role entails

  • Lead client onboarding and guide ERP implementations and system adoption
  • Manage and advise on data migrations across accounting platforms
  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations and ensure accuracy of financial data
  • Prepare and review financial statements, reports, and analyses for client leadership
  • Establish and maintain internal controls and accounting policies
  • Evaluate accounting workflows and identify opportunities for process and system improvements
  • Serve as the primary accounting lead and escalation point for complex client matters
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management initiatives
  • Build strong client relationships and set clear financial expectations
  • Create custom financial reports and insights to support business decision-making
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and safeguard financial data integrity
  • Coach and support team members through clear feedback and process guidance
