Industry Expertise

Industry-specific tax and accounting, not a generic template.

Every industry earns money in its own way, so the tax rules differ too. Our twelve industry practices bring that knowledge to your tax preparation, tax planning, bookkeeping, and CFO advisory. As a result, you work with CPAs who already understand your business, instead of paying for someone else’s learning curve.

The Problem

Generic accounting can cost more than it saves

A CPA who doesn’t know your industry can still file an accurate return. However, the cost shows up in what they don’t know to ask about.

📚 You’re paying for your CPA’s learning curve

When your accountant meets your revenue model fresh each spring, you pay for the catch-up in hours and rework. The bigger cost is the planning that never happens, because nobody realized it applied to you.

💸 Credits and elections you never hear about

Many of the most valuable tax opportunities depend on your industry, such as the research credit for software companies. Several depend on decisions made long before you file, so a generalist often spots them too late.

🌎 State obligations nobody flagged

Remote employees, property, or sales in another state can create nexus, the level of activity that requires you to file and pay tax there. Missed for a few years, it can turn into back taxes, penalties, and interest.

📊 Books that can’t answer your real questions

If nobody designed your chart of accounts (the categories that sort your transactions) around your industry, your reports show what happened but not why. Margin by channel, profit by job, and partner profitability stay out of reach.

Connected Services

Industry expertise is one part of the bigger picture

Tax comes first: preparation, filing, and planning. Bookkeeping, controller oversight, and CFO advisory build on it as you grow. One of the most common gaps we see is a bookkeeper and a tax preparer who never talk, so year-end planning starts from numbers nobody has reviewed. When one team handles both, your books and your tax strategy stay in agreement.

🏛️ 1120-S Filed In-House

File Form 1120-S, 1120, and 1065 returns, backed by planning that runs all year rather than only at deadline time.

🌎 40+ States Served

Know where you have filing obligations, and stay current in every state as your business grows.

📒 From $399/mo

Monthly reconciliations and a chart of accounts built for your industry, so the numbers mean something.

🎯 Close Every Month

A senior review of your monthly close, with reporting you can actually plan from.

⚙️ NetSuite Certified

Migration, clean-up, and ongoing NetSuite accounting once you’ve outgrown entry-level tools.

🧠 CFO Advisory

Forecasting, key metrics, and exit planning from a CFO who already knows your numbers.

Pricing starts at $155/mo for personal tax, $289/mo for business tax, and $399/mo for bookkeeping.

From Our Practitioners

What we'd tell you across the table

Industry knowledge matters most in decisions owners don’t realize they’re making. Here’s what our CPAs raise most often when we’re sitting across the table from a new client.

Document credits while the work happens

One of the biggest mistakes we see in software and AI companies is leaving the research credit until tax season. The records are far easier to pull from project files as the work happens. Rebuilt a year later, the claim is often smaller and harder to support.

Check your entity before you raise or sell

QSBS treatment can exclude a large share of the gain when founders sell. However, it generally applies only to stock issued by a C corporation that meets the requirements at the time. Converting late can shrink the benefit, so it’s worth reviewing your structure before the first priced round.

Track where your people work, not just where you sell

Owners often assume they only file where they have an office. Yet a single remote employee can create nexus in their home state, which may mean a new state return and new withholding. Checking where everyone works each year catches most of it.

Set up the books for the exit you want

Buyers judge your numbers by your industry’s standards, like margin per placement in staffing or collected billings in a law firm. If your books can’t produce those figures, expect a longer review and harder questions about price. Setting up the right categories now costs far less than rebuilding three years of history.

Our Process

Your Journey to Stabilize, Strategize, and Scale

01

Discovery Call

Every engagement starts with a complimentary Discovery Call. We’ll learn how your business works and what you want from the next few years. Then, if we’re the right fit, we’ll recommend next steps.

02

Stabilize

Once you’re a client, we begin with a prior return review and prepare any tax amendments and corrections it turns up. We also clean up your books and set up a chart of accounts built for your industry. It’s worth doing this first, because a strategy built on books nobody has reconciled usually needs redoing.

03

Strategize

With accurate numbers in place, we build a documented tax strategy around the credits, elections, and state positions that apply in your industry. You also get a reporting rhythm your team can act on.

04

Scale

As you grow, we stay involved with planning sessions through the year and CFO-level guidance before big decisions. For family businesses, that includes family retreats that keep every generation aligned.

Client Stories

What our clients are saying

Meet the Fusion CPA Team – experienced CPAs and UHNW Institute advisors, led on the tax side by Katherine Harrington, CPA, MAFM – Tax Director

Figuring out multi-state sales tax almost made me want to shut down my online shop. The team here mapped out exactly what I owed and got my quarterly I've been using Fusion CPA for a long time, well over a decade. I used them when I lived in Atlanta and continued to use them after I moved to CO. My taxes are what I would call relatively complex (multiple states, LLC, etc.) but Fusion CPA always goes above and beyond to get the job done and respond very promptly to all questions and inquires. Highly recommended.
Andrew Schneider
I’ve been using Fusion CPA for S Corp tax return preparation and tax advisory for our law firm in Atlanta, and the experience has been excellent. From the start, they took time to understand the unique needs of a legal practice, ensuring that our filings were accurate and optimized for our situation.
Kevin Mason
The team is extremely detail-oriented and professional. They reviewed my finances carefully, provided clear advice, and helped me make smart decisions. I feel much more organized financially now.
Iris Holloway
I had multiple sources of income and expected a complicated filing season. Everything was handled efficiently and accurately. Trevor and Fusion are just fantastic. Been with them for a few years now. Not only is Trevor great at what he does, but he genuinely shows interest in you and goes great lengths to ensure your business and finances are where they need to be come tax time. I strongly recommend Fusion to anyone who needs a CPA!

That means fewer missed opportunities and less time explaining your business every year. It also means your books can answer the questions investors and buyers will ask.

Yes. We prepare and file business returns, including Forms 1120-S, 1120, and 1065 and multi-state returns, as well as personal returns for owners. Bookkeeping, controller services, and CFO advisory run alongside throughout the year, so your tax planning starts from current numbers instead of a year-end catch-up.
